Telugu-Tamil movie ‪#‎Baahubali‬ has beat Aamir Khan-starrer ‪#‎PK‬ to become the highest-grossing Indian movie. Find out how much it has grossed so far.

16 Aug – "Baahubali" has recently broken the highest-grossing Indian movie record previously set by Aamir Khan-starrer, "P.K.", which held the record since last year.

The epic two-part film, also known as "Baahubali: The Beginning", has received mostly positive reviews since its worldwide release on 10 July 2015.

Directed by S. S. Rajamouli, the Telugu movie, which was also simultaneously shot in Tamil and dubbed in Hindi as well as Malayalam, has to date grossed INR 5 billion domestically in India, according to Forbes, surpassing the INR 4.4 billion collected by "P.K.".

Though overseas the 2014 comedy still has a higher gross revenue of INR 3 billion, beating "Baahubali's" INR 0.7 billion.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Salman Khan's latest release, places third on the chart behind the two movies, with its domestic gross revenue of INR 4.2 billion. Overseas, it has collected INR 1.7 billion thus far.

"Baahubali" has now made quite a mark in the Indian movie industry, especially for Telugu movies as it is also the first non-Hindi movie that manages to rank in the top ten as India's biggest earners.

The movie follows Amarendra Baahubali, the saviour of the commoners, and the people of his town respect and worship him like a god. His son, Shivudu, also unknowingly becomes the hero of the town. His return to the village marks the beginning of a fight against evil.

The second part of "Baahubali", also known as "Baahubali: The Conclusion", is slated for release some time in 2016.

The Tamil version of "Baahubali" is currently showing in Malaysian cinemas while Singaporean cinemas are showing the Telugu and Hindi versions.
